Every time you drive, you use gas

There was once a wise man who said: “A car has a gas tank. In that tank is the gas that the car needs to run. As the car runs, the gas is used. Similarly, as the gas is used, the car runs. They exist in perfect harmony.”

Listen! What will happen to the car if the gas tank is empty? Clearly, it will not run. There will be sorrow among the passengers, and the destination will not be reached.

It is a fool who says: “I have filled my gas tank to its fullest point. Now, the car will always run when I want it to go.” Pity a fool such as this! His car will run until the tank is empty. Then, the fool will be on the side of the road, his destitution like that of a hopeless beggar.

It would be better for the fool to remember this: every time you drive, you use gas. The wise man does not forget this. He is diligent about keeping the gas tank full so that he may reach his destination with serenity and without towing.

How does the wise man keep his tank full? He uses pumps to draw energy from the Earth and revitalize his tank. The wise man always knows how much gas is in his tank, and the place of the nearest pump.

You are like the car whose tank is empty. You do not move forward and you will not reach your destination, all because you did not remember the fullness of your tank or the place of the nearest pump. As you go, your energy is used; as your energy is used, you go. It happens in an endless cycle.

It is the wisdom of the wise man that will tow you to the next pump, which is this:

“Always remember yourself as you go forward in life: your energy is like that of the gas in the gas tank, and your work is what takes you to your destination. Learn where the pumps are on your journey, and fill your tank when it is needed. Only then will you reach your destination with serenity and without towing."

These are the words of the wise man.
